Paul is a figurative Artist specializing in portraits. He studied at the Graduate School of Figurative Art in New York, founded in the 1980’s specifically to teach figurative art and classical academic skills. His work includes landscapes, still lifes, and nudes, as well as portraits. His approach is both realistic and contemporary and Paul does not work from photographs. He currently lives and works in Barnes, in south West London.
Group exhibitions include BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery London, Wimbledon Art Studios, Summer Open studios, Wimbledon Art Studios, Winter Open Studios, The Discerning Eye 2001, work selected by Sir Roy Strong, Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition, Mall galleries, Laing Landscape Exhibition, Mall galleries, The Studio Gallery, Alexandria, Virginia and Untitled Gallery.
Portraits include: Jack Gunn, (choreographer), John Smith, (former Head of Classics and Undermaster), St. Paul’s School, Dr. Edward Ryan, (former chaplain), St. Paul’s School and Jan Pienkowski, children’s illustrator and co-author of ‘The Haunted House’, and ‘Meg and Mog’
