Karen gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the London Guildhall University in 2001. Since then she has exhibited in varied and often unusual venues and undertaken commissions.
Through a series of work on ancient graffiti, Karen expanded her interest in forgotten or denied aspects of social history. This in turn lead her to question and challenge society’s definition of value. As a result found objects and waste materials frequently creep into her work.
Karen works mostly within the disciplines of sculpture, print and photography and often combines all three. More recently she has started using photography as an artform in its own right. She walks specific routes and photographs the less conspicuous features that often go unnoticed. Always present in her work is a sense of transience and the passage of time.
