On leaving school Renée became apprenticed as a diamond mounter. Two years later she studied Art at Ealing School of Art, two years basic and three years graphic, taking two days a week to sketch animals at London Zoo. After leaving art school Renée returned to the jewellery trade doing jewellery design and sculpting (modelling) for the precious metal trade. She has won awards from the Goldsmiths' Craft Council for modelling. Renée has always painted, mainly animals and landscapes, but in the last two years has turned her had to abstracts also.
My sculptures and paintings are done with very fine detail, minutely observed, which I believe is the only way to capture the essence of life. I have live with many animals in the past, including cats, dogs and horses. My current managerie consists of four cats, three ferrets and a pony (Welsh cob). It is this close association which informs my work.
