Brenda Parker

Brenda lives in Winchester and is a graduate of Winchester School of Art.  Exhibitions include Coningsby Gallery, London; Kingston College, Bracknell Arts Centre, Southampton University, Beatrice Royal Gallery, Eastleigh.  She was selected by BBC South to make three Television Broadcasts during the Year of the Artist 2000. Studio events include Hampshire Open.  Group exhibitions, the Test Valley Art Festival, The Guildhall in Winchester, the Education Pavilion at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Braishfield, West End Centre at Aldershot and Mottisfont Abbey in Hampshire.  Also the Royal College of Art London (BlindArt) and Utrecht Holland with World Art Vision.  Joint Projects include Digital and 3D Project involving Youth Groups in Poole (Funded by Awards for All) and a 15ft x 45 ft digital mural for Wickham Community Centre (Funded by Southern Arts).  Working from landscapes in Hampshire, Pembrokeshire,  Morocco, France, Spain and other European countries but mainly in America all paintings explore abstraction, colour,  form and texture from nature. Brenda's prints are derived from the same sources and she now uses the new process of solar plate printing together with collographs.  3D and digital imagery is connected to her failing eyesight from an inherited eye disease and she often uses medical imigary as basic mateerial.

"As I suffer from eye disease what is see is often distorted; this is quite frustrating but often visually amazing.   Although I like to paint on site I frequently draw inspiration for my paintings from a comination of quick sketches and memorised shapes, colours and forms."
