Chris Rice
Began formal education at Kingston College of Art London. First year Dip. Fine Art 1967. Graduated Michaelis School of Fine Art University of Cape Town 1977. Awarded IRMA Stern Scholarship 1974 and 1975.
Participated in group exhibitions as a member of the South African Association of Arts and Primart Gallery Cape Town. Represented in private collections in S.A and U.K.
After graduation, was employed in the South African television industry as Director and Art Director. Worked on many youth drama productions, including “Interster” and “Buks de la Rey” which was nominated for an “Artes” award 1998.
“After more then forty years of painting and drawing, what I look for most in my works is a balance between harmony and anarchy. The ancient duality of Classical/Romantic underpins all I attempt.”
