Diane Kaufman
Diane works in oils on canvas painting portraits of a kind, though more about substance than visual likeness. De Kooning said “Flesh is what oil was invented for”. I look to the work of Auerbach, Freud, Bacon, deKooning and Soutine as my major influences.
The accidental things that happen in their execution seem to have some resonance with those elements in chance of birth that go to shape every individual. Kaufman asks why we invest such meaning in the configuration of a face.
Previous Exhibitions include Ashley Gallery, Philadelphia, Affordable Art, New York, Quantum Contemporary Art, Luscious Conceptions, as well as various group exhibitions in London and South East with works owned in private collections in Britain, France, USA and Australia.
