Daniel Shutt
I finished my degree in 2001. The work upon which my degree was marked was entirely video and photographic work; I made some charcoal drawings but never really felt, [or got the impression from my tutors] that I should pursue them. Some of the drawings I did around this time provided the seeds for work I would continue to develop up to the present time.
I returned to Bristol to live and work there in October of 2001, continuing to produce drawings to the extent that my circumstances would allow. In 2003 on the basis of the appreciation some had shown for my work and the belief I had in my own abilities I took the initiative and tried pushing the work entirely off my own back subsequently selling one piece. The next year I sold three more pieces to two different people but have not sold anything since, although I have participated in my first two exhibitions the last one being with Untitled in July of 2006.
